Lyrics of Bhajan : Darshan Do Ghanashyam
Raga : Kedar
Aroh :
Darshan Do Ghanashyam Nath Mori, Akhiya Pyaasi Re
Man Mandir Ki Jyot Jaga Do
Ghat Ghat Baasi Re
Darshan Do…………
Har Mandir Me Murat Teri, Phir Bhi Na Dikhe Soorat Teri
Yug Beete Ya , Aayi Milan Ki
Pooran Maasi Re
Darshan Do…….
Dwar Daya Ka Jab Tu Khole, Pancham Sur Me Goonga Bole
Andha Dekhe, Langada Chalkar
Pahunche Kashi Re
Darshan Do……..
Paani Pikar Pyaas Boojhavoo, Nainan Ko Kaise Samjhavoo
Aankh Michauli, Chodo Ab To
Man Ke Baasi Re
Darshan Do……..
Following Songs are based on Raga Kedar:
Bekaspe Karam Keejiye (Mughal-e-Azam by Naushad), O jab Yaad aaye (Parasmani by Laxmikant-Pyarelel), Hamko Man Ki Shakti Dena (Guddi by Vasant Desai), Mil Ja Mil ja (Munimji by S.D.Burman), Aap Youn Hi Agar Hamse, Humko Tumhare and Bahut Shukriya (Ek Musafir Ek Haseena by O.P.Nayyar)
For Raga Kedar following are its charactertics:
Aroha : S-M-P, M-P-D-n-D-P-S
Avaroha : S-D-n-D-P, M-P-D-P-m, S-R-S
Pakad or Set of dominating notes: S-M-P, M-P-D-P-m, S-R-S
Vaadi : m
Samvaadi : S
Note : In above notations m is Shuddha and M is Tivra swara. Other than these 2 notes lower case represents Komal Swara and upper case represents Shuddha swara. Bold letter for S represents swara from Taar Saptaka or third octave of Harmonium. Pakad is set of dominating notes and is used by music directors to base the composition so as to base a song on a particular Raga. Each Raga has its own rules for Aroha, Avaroha, Pakad and Vaadi and Samvaadi.

Dear Dr. V. S. Gopal,
Thank you very very much for your encouraging comment. I was waiting for a long time to get your opinion since you are already an established singer on Sulekha. Finally you came on Board.
You correctly pointed out that I sing high notes effortlessly. Also I thank you to make a judgment on my SWARAS.

Dear Dr.Kamath Saheb,
Hearty congratulations. Your first vocal in sulekha is a beauty. Your swaras are perfect. Your voice is soft and mellow. You take the higher notes effortlessly.
I must take credit for being the pioneer in introducing vocals in sulekha with my singing! I have to say it since others are not saying it! I am happy and proud about it.
You are planning to sing non-bhajans too. We are waiting to hear you.
Regards

Dear MU,
Thank you very much for your honest comment. Actually, I tried to put my soul into this Bhajan while I was singing but probabaly you were in a different mood when you were listening to my bhajan. Of course, flute sound has tremendous effect. When you compare my flute with my song probably you are right. Anyways, I will try to improve my rendition next time. I am glad that you gave your honest opinion. I like that.
Kind Regards,
Dr. Kamath

Dear Dr Kamath
I look forward to more such blogs from you. Your choice of song is great. This bhajan is mom's favourite too. I don't know how many times my parents have watched 'Narsi Bhagat'.
Even I like the movie. Thanks and Regards.
You have sung the bhajan well. I am not competent to comment on anyone's singing so I'm not sure if you would really like my stupid utterances. When you play the mouth organ or the flute, you seem to enjoy it. That 'feel' was missing here. It seems that you are merely singing, not enjoying the singing. May be, you sing with passion only at the temple, at the "lotus feet of Sai Baba'. The vibes of a temple are totally different. Your voice is good.

Dear Shri S.V.Nathan Ji,
Aap ne Hame Pakad Liya. You are right, at some places I was not singing "Khule Dil Se". This is because my Tabla acompaniment was by Electronic Tabla Player. With Electronic Tabla Machine, you always have a fear that you may miss the beat or "SAMA" point. And with this fear, at times I had to restrict myself and that may have shown up in few places. Whereas if actual Tabla player accompanies you then singer is not afraid to sing in "Khuli Awaaz", becasue Tabla player will take care of the singer and adjust himself to the tempo (or laya or speed) of the singer. Tabla Player Singer Ko Sambhal Lega.
Anyways, I am extremely happy that you liked my Debut Bhajan. I am glad to note that my
'KEY COMMENTATOR' Nathan Ji appreciated my singing and posted not one but 2 comments. Thanks for liking my voice and this gives me more encouragement to post more songs on Sulekha. You are right. I can sing any type of song, be it a Bhajan, a sad song or a romantic number, I will try to post variety of songs on Sulekha platform in near future. Be Ready for it!
You can frankly express your opnion on my blogs just like you did here. I do not like empty praise. Whatever weakness you point out, I will learn from it and correct my mistakes in future and that will keep me in correct shape. Like famous producer and director V. Shantram once said to some kalakaars that real Kalakaar should always remain a student even if he is a teacher. And this is a Guru Mantra that I am following.
I liked your second note even more so since you have pointed out lots of Tamil movie songs based on Raga Kedar. I will definitely listen to 'Karnan' Music as suggested by you.
You are right "Main Pagal" is based on Raga Kedar. Other 2 songs I have not heard.
Aise Hi Acche Acche Comments Likhate Rahiye.
Thanks and Regards,
Dr. Kamath

Lakshmi Mukundan,
Thanks for your perseverance to post the comment (finally!) after 3 attempts. Sometimes, the posting of comment do have technical problems. Sulekha management should fix it.
Thanks for appreciating my Debut Bhajan on Sulekha.
