(Author's Note : Click above PLAY button to listen to song "Jab Deep Jale Aana" from the Film : CHITCHOR of 1976 which I played on my Flute using Latin Bolero Beat. So I tried to make a fusion of Western Beat and Indian Semi-Classical Song. This song was set to Tune in Raga Yaman Kalyan by very talented Music Director Ravindra Jain who unfortunately is Blind. CHITCHOR was an art movie with a very low budget and was produced by famous Rajshree Productions of Tarachand Barjatya who earlier had made a very successful emotional Film : DOSTI in 1964. Although CHITCHOR was an Art Movie, yet commercially it was a big hit all across India.
CHITCHOR was a very short movie of I think only 90 minutes but the story was superb and at the end there was a suspense which is revealed at the last moment by the Director. There were only 4 songs which were brilliantly composed by Ravindra Jain.
I also liked the low-key acting by middle-class expert Amol Palekar and newcomer Zarina Wahab who tried to emulate acting of Jaya Bhaduri wife of Famous Big B. Jaya Bhaduri was a very accomplished actress in mid-seventies.
I saw this movie in 1976 in Mumbai when I was visiting my hometown from USA for the first time since I immigrated to USA in 1971. And it goes without saying I loved this movie from the first scene to the last scene. Movie was shot, I guess (not so sure) at Mahabaleshwar the famous scenic and beautiful Hill Station of Maharashtra State.

P.S. At the time of this writing I feel extremely happy to let readers know that today I had been to Hanuman Temple of Vedic Heritage in Long Island to listen to Pt. Jasraj Jee’s free concert in the altar of the Temple on the occasion of Guru Poornima day. Just before he arrived I was playing Raga Bhoopali inside the
Also while leaving, as I was playing Raga Malkauns in other part of Temple which has a high ceiling which gives a tremendous spiritual echo, Pt. Jasraj Jee waited for one minute to listen to my Flute. I feel really blessed today.
