Listen to my Flute Tune for song "Jab Deep Jale Aana" from the Film : CHITCHOR of 1976
(Author's Note : Click above PLAY button to listen to song "Jab Deep Jale Aana" from the Film : CHITCHOR of 1976 which I played on my Flute using Latin Bolero Beat. So I tried to make a fusion of Western Beat and Indian Semi-Classical Song. This song was set to Tune in Raga Yaman Kalyan by very talented Music Director Ravindra Jain who unfortunately is Blind. CHITCHOR was an art movie with a very low budget and was produced by famous Rajshree Productions of Tarachand Barjatya who earlier had made a very successful emotional Film : DOSTI in 1964. Although CHITCHOR was an Art Movie, yet commercially it was a big hit all across India.
CHITCHOR was a very short movie of I think only 90 minutes but the story was superb and at the end there was a suspense which is revealed at the last moment by the Director. There were only 4 songs which were brilliantly composed by Ravindra Jain.
I also liked the low-key acting by middle-class expert Amol Palekar and newcomer Zarina Wahab who tried to emulate acting of Jaya Bhaduri wife of Famous Big B. Jaya Bhaduri was a very accomplished actress in mid-seventies.
I saw this movie in 1976 in Mumbai when I was visiting my hometown from USA for the first time since I immigrated to USA in 1971. And it goes without saying I loved this movie from the first scene to the last scene. Movie was shot, I guess (not so sure) at Mahabaleshwar the famous scenic and beautiful Hill Station of Maharashtra State.

P.S. At the time of this writing I feel extremely happy to let readers know that today I had been to Hanuman Temple of Vedic Heritage in Long Island to listen to Pt. Jasraj Jee’s free concert in the altar of the Temple on the occasion of Guru Poornima day. Just before he arrived I was playing Raga Bhoopali inside the Temple along with Temple Tabla Player. And as I was playing last part of my Raga in fast tempo Pt. Jasraj Jee arrived and I feel extremely good that for one and half minute he listened to my Flute. Since I saw him arriving, I concluded my rendition and touched his feet and he blessed me. Maybe with touching of his feet, I will have more inspiration playing Flute. I feel extremely good about this happening today.
Also while leaving, as I was playing Raga Malkauns in other part of Temple which has a high ceiling which gives a tremendous spiritual echo, Pt. Jasraj Jee waited for one minute to listen to my Flute. I feel really blessed today.

Dear Sablu Mukesh,
Thank you once again for your lavish praise of my Flute Tune. Yes. Raga Yaman has a different kind of beauty compared to all other Ragas. It is cery satisfying to play this song "Jab Deep Jale Aana" on Flute. I am sure you will also master this song in near future. I loved your Pahadi song "Kora Kagaz Tha Ye Man". It was very melodious. I have already posted my comment.
Thanks once again for your Great Appreciation!
Warm Regards.

Dear Sir,
It must have been a great feeling to be in close company of the revered Pt Jasraj. Such masters are rare to come by and India is indeed fortunate to have such geniuses in its midst.
Your flute tune was splendid. The song is an evergreen hit of 70's. I think this song is based on Raag Yaman. I listened to your flute tune the first thing in the morning and ever since I am feeling very good and energetic. Thank you Sir for making my day.

Dear Dr. Narasinha Kamath,
Once again, I enjoyed a lot to listen your melodious flute piece of a beautiful song Jab Deep Jale Aana from film Chitchor. I like this song which was beautifully rendered by Yesudas and brilliantly composed and written by Shri Ravindra Jain who was expert in Rajeshri Creations and Productions and you have decorated with an immense beauty to this awesome song with your soothing tune on flute with very wonderful beat. Also liked very much going through your blog’s info which is very informative especially for music and film lovers. This is one of the songs which really very much suits on flute. Sometime, I too love to play this tune on flute. I love your marvellous style of playing all the tunes. It gives peace and much relaxation in my soul. And it’s great to know about your meeting with Pandit Jasraj in Hanuman temple and he listened to your tune on Flute, based on raga Bhopali and raga Malkaus.
It’s good coincidence and your fortune to meet such legendary in the field of music and be blessed by him. I wish I also could meet him someday and get blessings from him.
God bless you, you keep on playing such excellent tunes and do also sing when you get time.
Regards,
Mukesh

Dear Shri Nathan Saab!
Thank you so much once again. You made my next 10 years. Thank you so so much once again. You are right. Yesudas made wonders in CHITCHOR so much so that I heard a story that he was getting threateneing calls (from his enemies) to withdraw singing in Bollywood and he really got afraid at one point and focused more on singing in South Indian Films. All those 3 films mentioned by you are real masterpieces. I hope you will review all 3 of them of course time permitting. Of course, do not forget SANGAM. I am sure you must be burning midnight oil right now on SANGAM. We are all awaiting your release on SANGAM.
Yes. It was definitely Shirdi Sai Baba's blessings that I could play in front of Pt. Jasraj Jee. Because just before I went to Hanuman Temple for Guru Poornima Function, I had visited Shirdi Saibaba Temple in Baldwin, Long Island.
Also our Guru Poornima function in our newly built Sai Baba Temple in Flushing was a GRAND ONE! About 1500 devotees showed up on July 17th, 2008 (throughout the day of course). And devotees enthusiasm was overflowing with joy and happiness which saw no bounds on that day. I, of course, had a very difficult time in controlling singers singing Bhajans as we had a very limited time for Bhajans. I had invited a special Tabla player and a Dholak Player and both of them performed in SYNC with all the singers including some children who rendered Canatic Classical. Especially a 3 year old girl singing alaaps etc. It was unbilievable.
Anyways, thanks for your prompt reply.
Warm Regards,
Dr. Kamath

Dear Dr. Kamath,
Your flute sound was really sweet and nice and as pleasant as the film itself-- and its songs! Surprisingly you have missed to mention about Yesudas when talking of 'Chitchor'. I love those 3 films made by Basu Chatterjee - 'Rajnigandha', 'Chhoti-si Baat' and 'Chitchor', all with Amol Palekar who played the 'middle-class' simple guy with a class of his own! The finest and my most favourite was the first one, but the second one was more hilarious and the the third one was musically the best of the three. I may attempt a review of one of the three films, mostly the second one.
All the great artistes of India seem to be drawn by your flute sound and land up wherever you are playing! It is indeed a blessing of Sai Baba and I really feel very happy that you got an oppurtunity to play in front of such a great artiste like Pt. Jasraj-ji! I heartily wish you more such occasions in the future!
My sincere 'pranam's to my 'music guru-on-line' (You, Who else?!) and thank you for all the musical inspirations that you give through your postings, on this auspicious occasion of 'Guru-Poornima'!
Regards,
S.V.Nathan.

Dear Naval Langa Jee,
Thanks a lot once again for your appreciation. Yes. Bansuri is the most sweetest musical instrument ever. You are correct and this is why Lord Krishna selected it as his instrument over any other instrument that he could imagine.

Dr. Kamath
