SAI BABA BOLO LIVE BHAJAN SUNG BY DR. KAMATH

(Author’s Note : Please CLICK above PLAY button to listen to my LIVE Shirdi Saibaba Bhajan which I sang LIVE on July 17th, 2008, Guru Poornima Day at Shirdi Saibaba Temple, Flushing, New York. This Bhajan is from Manoj Kumar’s Film : Shirdi Ke Saibaba of 1977 whose music was composed by one of the Greatest Devotees of Shirdi Saibaba Mr. Pandurang Dixit who recently passed away).

This Bhajan is based upon Raga Lalit which has lots of “Karuna” (Compassion) in it. This is my most favorite Bhajan and I have been singing this Bhajan in Flushing’s Shirdi Saibaba Temple since 1995 every Thursday and every Sunday as a closing Bhajan.

While you are listening you can see that I have added Alaap of Raga Basant at the beginning and also I have added one Antara “Om Sai Shri Sai, Jai Jai Sai” which is not in original song. I have also added few new lyrics at the end of this Bhajan. I start this Bhajan at a very high pitch (in Taar Saptaka) and also end this Bhajan in high pitch (in Taar Saptaka). Every one in Flushing Temple loves this Bhajan so much so that whenever they see me at any place they greet me by saying “Saibaba Bolo”. I love to sing this Bhajan and I can feel vibrations throughout the Temple whenever I sing this Bhajan. I know Lord Shirdi Saibaba loves this Bhajan.

In  original recording of this Bhajan, 3 singers sang each Antara of this Bhajan. The original Bhajan starts with Anup Jalota and second Antara is sung by Jaani Babu Qawwal and last part which requires very high pitch is sung by of course our beloved singer Mohammed Rafi Saab. But with Shirdi Saibaba’s Grace, I could sing whole Bhajan (all 3 Antaras) without any problem that too with so many added pieces. With Shirdi Saibaba’s grace, I have been singing this Bhajan in the Temple twice every week since 1995 like I mentioned before. This Bhajan is the SOUL of our Flushing Temple. On hearing of this Bhajan every Shirdi Saibaba Devotee will feel a thrill and the hair of their body standing.

The attached Bhajan you are listening was recorded LIVE in the evening of July 17th, 2008 (Guru Poornima Day) when I sang this Bhajan in Flushing’s Shirdi Saibaba Temple so as to close the Bhajan session. We recently moved Baba Murthy to second floor of newly constructed Temple building and we expect to inaugurate the Temple most likely on Oct 17th 2008 which is Baba’s Samadhi Day which coincides with Dassera.

Since I recorded this Bhajan LIVE, if you find any shortcomings you will have to excuse me. At the end, you will hear Devotees chanting right after me which will give you the LIVE spiritual experience. I am sure you will love this Bhajan.

Incidence behind this Bhajan:

Name Sai (meaning GOD) was given to Shirdi Saibaba by his closest  Devotee Mhalsapati, a Hindu Brahmin who welcomed Saibaba when he entered Shirdi for the first time. The name Sai itself gives lots of Joy and much more in the heart of his devotees. However, initially, Mhalasapati did not allow Saibaba to stay in Khandoba Temple of Shirdi, thinking him to be a Muslim Fakir from the kind of long clothes Saibaba wore and also that Saibaba always used to recite “ALLAH MAALIK”. But after sometime while living in close vicinity of Saibaba, Mhalaspati realized that Saibaba was GOD himself. And thus Mhalsapati became the most closest Devotee of Shirdi Saibaba.

One day, Saibaba called Mhalaspati that he will be leaving his body for 3 days. Saibaba asked him to guard his body for 3 days. Saibaba also told Mhalsapati that if he did not return (or became alive) within 3 days then he should bury his body at a particular place in Shirdi. After that Saibaba left his body, his breathing stopped completely. Doctors certified that Saibaba was not alive anymore and doctors also advised his devotees that they should bury his body immediately or else the body could decay and start spreading disease in Shirdi. However, all the villagers including Mhalasapati were adamant and refused to bury his body as Saibaba had assured them that he would return (or become alive) within next 3 days and had asked them to guard his body for next 3 days. Third day was almost about to pass and there was no sign of Saibaba becoming alive and all the devotees at this point started praying and chanting so that their beloved Lord Shirdi Saiababa should return before the 3rd day ended.

And at the last minute, just before the end of third day, Saibaba’s body began to breathe, Saibaba came back to serve his devotees, to spread LOVE, GRACE and COMPASSION once again and of course to spread his most famous message “SHRADDHA AND SABURI” and "SAB KA MAALIK EK" which is still going on powerfully. I can just feel it even now. BOLO SHRI SATCHIDANAND SADGURU SAINATH MAHARAJ KI JAI. MAY LORD SHIRDI SAIBABA BLESS ALL OF YOU!

This Bhajan “Sai Baba Bolo” was composed to depict the above incidence.
