Song "Ye Mera Deewaanapan Hai" sung by me at the request of my Dear Sulekha Friend Sablu Mukesh.
(Author's Note: This is one of the most famous Mukesh Songs from the Film :Yahudi of 1958. This Mukesh song is one of my most favorite songs which was brilliantly composed by Super Maestro Shankar-Jaikishen, the most popular Music Directors of 1950's and 1960's. I have sung this song with my HARMONIUM at the request of my Dear Sulekha Friend Sablu Mukesh whom most of you know to be a Melodious Kishore Kumar Voice of Sulekha. I hope everyone will like my rendition. This song is based roughly on Raga Mishra Yaman and was sung brilliantly by Great Singer Mukesh with his Dard Bhari Awaaz. I personally would rate this song as the Best Song of Mukesh in his career).
Film Yahudi was directed by Bimal Roy, this dramatic story was totally influenced by the western mythologicals which were in vogue in Hollywood at the time. Yahudi was based on the a Parsee Theatre play, written by Agha Hashr Kashmiri. The story is written on the backdrop of ancient Rome. It is about Ezra (Sohrab Modi), a Jewish, who is persecuted by the Romans. His daughter is spirited away by a devoted servant. Hanna (Meena Kumari) grows up to become a beautiful woman. A Roman aristocrat, Marcus (Dilip Kumar) falls in love with Hannah and the rest of the plot concerns the obstacles that come in the way of their love. The movie marks the beginnings of Dilip Kumar’s tragic image, as he blinds himself at some point in this classic movie, to atone for his sins.
Film Yahudi had the best artists ever. The hero was Great Targedy King Dilip Kumar, Heronine was Tragedy Queen Meena Kumari and were supported by Character Actors Nazir Hussain and Sohrab Modi and Music was composed by Greatest Music Directors Shankar-Jaikishen. It had a very good story line. And to top it all it was directed by one of the Greatest Directors of 1950's BIMAL ROY. Film Yahudi was superbly crafted in every technical department.
But with all these brilliant artists in Yahudi one would think that Yahudi must have been a super hit Film. No Sir! Despite great performances and superb music by S-J, movie failed miserably at box office. It ran only for 3 weeks. Producer of the movie Mr. Sawak B. Wacha lost lots of money.
Sometimes very melodious music can save a movie and here despite superb music by S-J, movie flopped miserably. Each and every song of this movie was very melodious and superbly composed by S-J. It was a big shock to Bimal Roy and also to Dilip Kumar who had high expectations about possible Great Success of the film.
Main reason why this movie "YAHUDI" of 1958 flopped was that in the story Dilip Kumar becomes BLIND around Interval Time and audience could not take it. The song "Ye Mera Diwaanapan Hai" is sung by Dilip Kumar in the movie after he becomes blind. Most of the audience left the theatre half way through after listening to the song "Ye Mera Diwaanapan Hai". What a PITY!!!!
After all, Filmwallahs cannot judge the pulse of the audience. It is very difficult to predict even today as to which movie will succeed and which movie will fail. Nobody can solve this mystery of the key that the audience holds. AUDIENCE TAS MAI NAMAHA.

Dear Sablu Mukesh,
I am extremely happy to note that you liked my Mukesh Song. In fact, this was my special treat for you and I am glad you liked my selection. Your comment means a lot to me since you are yourself a very accomplished singer. In one of your blogs you have made few requests to me to sing few O.P.Nayyar fast rhythm songs which I will try to fulfill in due course of time.
Thanks and Regards,

Dear Dr. Kamath Sir,
You have given me a wonderful treat today. Thanks a ton once again to you for giving me such a honor and singing this awesome song of Mukesh through my request. Very brilliantly rendered by you this song . I love this particular song of Mukeshji from film Yahudi picturized on Dilip Kumar and you have brought your wonderful melody in this song. I assumed that this type of song will definitely suit very much in your sweet voice. Wah bahut hi khubsurat rendition kiya hai apne. You have also very brilliantly depicted about the songs and films sequences and story which I liked and enjoyed reading very much after listening 3 times your melodious rendition. I thanks to Shirdi Sai Baba who bestowed you such all talents.
Your song made my day. I would honestly say that this is the best so far in your singing rendition apart from your other songs very nicely rendered. I liked your singing very much which was very very soothing to my ear and some specific melody from your voice, I have been enjoying. Keep on rendering such type of songs of Mukesh and other singers too. Thanks for giving me this treat.
Hamare farmayeesh ko pura karne ke liye aapko bahut bahut dhanyabaad. I sorry for my late feedback as you know my weekend program that I am not on on-line.
Regards,
Mukesh

Dear Mr. Nathan Saab,
Thank you very very very very very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for your appreciation. Yes. You are right. I took your previous suggestion seriously and I sang "Zara Khulke". And next time I will sing with more and more "Khulke". Thanks for your timely suggestion to sing with open "Galaa" (throat).
I am extremely happy that this time you found my voice to be crystal clear like you said in absence of Karaoke. You made my day Nathan Saab!
Ab aapki Matinee on "Teesri Manzil" padhane Jaa Raha Hoon. You can expect my comment on your articulate blog : "Teesri Manzil" REVIEW within next 24 hours. I have to read it slowly so as to absorb the contents or in other words to read in a manner so that I can relish it like we do when we eat Idli Sambhar or Masala Dosa when it tastes very delicious. "Moonh Me Paani Aa Gaya Na".
Gaata Rahe Mera Dil, Tu Hi Meri Manzil, Hi,
Kahin Beete Na Ye Raate, Kahin Beete Na Ye Din
Gaata Rahe Mera Dil!!!!
Thanks and Cheers!

Bahut khoob! Bahut badhiya, Dr. Saheb!
Your voice was crystal clear and extra smooth. The golden quality of your voice shone clearly in absence of karoke which could be sometimes distracting. The harmonium interlude was also very very nice! Compared to your previous songs, mujhe lagta hai ki aapne aur zara khulke gaaye hain is baar, phir bhi aur bhi zara khulke gaaye to aur bhi zara mazaa aayega!
This Mukesh number is my favourite too, but I never got to see 'Yahudi'. Also thanks for the interesting details about the movie which I didn't know before.
Yunhi gaate rahiye hardam!
Regards,
S.V.Nathan

Dear Dr. V. S. Gopal,
Thanks a Lot for your prompt response and also for your second comment. I feel honored to read your comment when the appreciation is coming especially from a prominent and melodious singer like you. I am glad that you liked my voice in this song. Since you are an
old-timer like me you are bound to know about the Movie Yahudi and this is why you enjoyed the snippets presented by me in this blog. I liked that Latin word "Sonance" that is creatively coined by you.
Kind Regards,
Dr. Kamath

Dr.Kamath,
Each one has different tastes. I forgot to say that this song, though melodious, would not figure in my list of Mukesh's ten best songs!

Hi Dr. Kamath,
This is a very nicely presented integrated-package, with your steady and near- Mukesh sonance (word coined by me from Latin) and pleasant harmonium. Perhaps your karaoke does not include this song, so I presume. I liked the various snippets going along with your song and music, such as the history of the movie, urdu glossary etc.
I liked your humour too. ("Audience Tas Mai Namaha") . It was quite unwise to have had Dilip Kumar as blind. He could have been left lame or paralysed in the fingers!
cheers
